There's Work to be Done in God's House

A Sunday School class is inspired through their lesson II Corinthians to seek out their own talents and gifts. They find ways to put those talents to work as they use their gifts to serve in God's house.

Mommy Are We Rich?

A little girl asks her mother if they are rich?  Rich people have gold and diamonds, jewels and servants.  Rich people go all over the world and talk to important people.  The mother's sensitive reply teachers her daughter what true richness really is.

Hootah's Baby

Most children have happy, untroubled childhoods. But not all. There are some who are placed in harm’s way, if even temporarily, by their own parents’ lack of parental skills. When that happens, often, the courts must step in, in the best interests of the child. But when that happens, it is the child who often does not understand the dynamics of this very complicated situation. Hootah’s Baby is an allegorical story about a mother owl whose life-style choices have made it impossible to be an effective mother. The community steps in to ensure the baby’s safety. It is not about whether or not the mother loves her baby. It is all about mothering skills and the child’s need to be safe. Hootah’s Baby is a tool to be used to help children of court-ordered relinquishment and/or state custody to understand the complex issues that have led to their current life situation. Helps are included for the adult who reads this book with these children to be able to assist them to open windows of communication that will help them understand basic truths: they are not at fault; the courts are not the bad guys; and their mothers do, in fact, love them.

Flowers for Jesus

Whatever we do, in word or in deed, do it as unto the Lord! In this sweet book about a little girl who enjoys doing good things for the people around her, we learn the true meaning of giving. She finds ways throughout her day to show the love of Jesus through her actions, be it to help an elderly neighbor to sweep her porch, or to share a warm jacket with a friend who has none. In each instance of giving she finds a flower, and so she builds a beautiful bouquet, all the while explaining that this reward is not the reason she does good things. In the end, we learn her reason. These, truly are Flowers for Jesus!

Nathan's Ups and Downs

Nathan was born with Down Syndrome. This book tells Nathan's story in three different ways. First, the title story tells of the struggle and resolution that Nathan's family experienced as they learned about their son and his syndrome. Part two of this book gives new parents of a Down-affected child helps and resources and hope. And then there is the "book in the back." The book in the back is a tool for new families to use to introduce Down Syndrome and their child to new groups of unaffected kids using simple concepts told in child-friendly language. Both the stories in this book sweetly tell the story of this very inspiring population through the life and experiences of Nathan and his family. While this book showcases one little boy, the meaning and the lessons hold true for many.
